50 Cent Threatens To Leave ‘Power’
As usual, fans were thrilled by Sunday’s explosive episode of ‘Power.’ However, those behind the scenes were disappointed, because they knew about the even bigger plans they had to bring fans the twists and turns and in-depth storylines they want from the show.
As showrunner Courtney Kemp told Entertainment Weekly, episode six read as much more packed and scattered than they originally intended, because, despite the fact that it’s one of the network’s most successful programs, Starz refused to extend the season at their request:
We only have 10 episodes, so we’re often in a situation where we have to pack in a lot of story because we want to get certain places by the end of the season. In the case of episode six, it was originally conceived of as a Tommy only episode. We were going to do two separate episodes: One was going to be Ghost, Kanan, Tariq, Jukebox, and the kidnapping; and one was going to be just Tommy on his journey to Chicago and what happens there. Unfortunately, Starz would not give us the extra episode. I asked them for 12 episodes for season 4 and they would not do it. So because they would not do it, we had to make it one episode. That’s the real answer. The upshot was that we had to lose some story lines and some story.
And she wasn’t the only one a little disappointed in the outcome. 50 Cent took to IG to let fans know he’s having second thoughts about the show since they aren’t allowed to tell the story how they want to.
Hmmm…what do you think? Will 50 actually leave or is he just blowing off some steam?
