“TRL” Is Coming Back To Our TV Screens After Almost 10 Years
One of MTV’s most beloved shows, “TRL,” is making a comeback. Chris McCarthy, president of MTV, announced that the show will be back this October in an effort to boost falling ratings for the network. He also said that they’re constructing a massive studio in Times Square just like the old one, saying, “If we’re going to come back and reinvent MTV, the studio is a given. It is the centerpiece.”
The new installment of “Total Request Live” will feature 5 new co-hosts, one of them being DC Young Fly, who also appears on MTV’s revival of “Wild N’ Out.” Other possibilities for hosts will be announced in the future after completing negotiations.
McCarthy, the one putting this deal in motion, has only been president of MTV for a year now. He was responsible for reviving other brands in the Viacom family, and hopes to bring ratings up in the same way for MTV with bringing not only “TRL” back, but “Wild N’ Out” and Ludacris’ new gig “Fear Factor” as well.
Let’s see if this new “TRL” can bring back music videos to the forefront of our minds and showcase some new talent on our TV screens. See y’all in October!
