Fat Joe Joins The Breakfast Club To Talk Staying Relevant And The New Rap World
Fat Joe is a New York Legend. He’s been in the game for over 20 years, and dude still remains relevant, even having a platinum single in 2017. Joe joined the Breakfast Club on Tuesday to talk about all the ways he’s adapted to the industry over the years, and how his ability to is what makes him able to stay in the game.
Though many old head New York rappers like to stick to their roots and produce the same type of music they came up on, Fat Joe expresses his knowledge on the fact that boom bap just isn’t it anymore, and credits artists like Jay Z and Rick Ross for adapting to the new music world throughout the years.
The whole interview is very light-hearted and fun, and spans many topics including his newfound love for Vic Mensa, having dinner with LL Cool J, and advising new artists not to spend their money on private jets.
Joe goes into stories from the couple year span in his earlier career where he spent millions on private jets, and says it definitely wasn’t worth it. He recalls getting billed for just one month of using the same jet, and that total coming out to around $600K. It’s nice to see a rapper putting aside the constant need to flex to be real for a few minutes, and let these new kids know there’s nothing wrong with flying commercial, because the money won’t always be flowing like it is in your prime.
