Meghan Markle Speaks Out About Experiences With Racism

Prince Harry’s half-black girlfriend Meghan Markle continues to share her experience growing up mixed race, recently appearing on the cover of Pride Magazine’s July issue. Inside the edition Markle shares a number of painful experiences; including her mother Doria Radian being called the “N-Word” and overhearing racist jokes from people who didn’t realize she had a black parent.

According to Daily Mail reports, Markle told Pride:

‘I don’t care if I’m fair-skinned and I don’t care what it is, that’s who I am and that’s my family.

‘My hope is for the world to get to a place where it’s color blind.’

Markle also revealed how ‘countless black jokes people have shared in front of me, not realizing I am mixed’, and said she feels an ‘obligation now to talk about discrimination… or even to talk about the fact that most people can’t tell that I’m half black’.

In the meantime, it’s being speculated that Prince Harry may propose this week, as the couple is currently in Botswana celebrating her 36th birthday this Friday. The couple made their voyage after Markle wrapped filming for “Suits” last month. It is being reported that Harry will have the chance to show his real self in southern Africa where he reportedly wears his “roylaness” most lightly according to royal author Penny Junor.
