Charles Barkley Doesn’t Understand Why Kyrie Irving Wants A Different Team
Since word came out that Kyrie Irving requested a trade from The Cleveland Cavaliers, more and more players–and people in general–have been coming out and speaking on their distaste for that kind of move. The latest to come out against this is Charles Barkley, who spoke on the subject in an NBA TV interview on Wednesday.
When asked about Kyrie’s supposed desire to leave LeBron’s shadow and go elsewhere, Barkely described his take on that decision to be, “so stupid.” He later elaborated, “when he was on a bad team and he was the man, I guarantee that wasn’t a lot of fun for him…and now you wanna leave the best player in the world.”
Charles also said during the interview, “if you get a chance to play with great players, that’s half the battle,” even though just last year he was against Kevin Durant’s choice to join a super team. Barkley thinks that the goal should be to win, and not to be shining as an individual player, and for that, he suggests Kyrie and all the modern-day players to get their priorities in check.
