Issa Rae And Solange Hold L.A. Fundraiser To Save Black Owned Restaurant
Give it up one time for #BlackGirlMagic.
Insecure’s Issa Rae and Solange Knowles have come together to support a dear sista in need. According to CassiusLife, the owner of the beloved L.A. restaurant My 2 Cents, Alisa Reynolds, has been under major stress as she’s facing a $130,000 lawsuit that threatens to ruin her business.
Back in July, Alisa started a GoFundMe and explained exactly what’s going on:
For the past two years, I have suffered in silence because of a legal battle. Honestly, I am facing the biggest obstacle of my professional life. If you have ever watched me cook, you know that I am most careful to take my time to bring out tremendous flavor in the food I prepare. My challenge is from individuals that originally backed my expertise.
The work that I do and the level of proficiency that I employ, took time to perfect. Each day, I spend countless hours honing my culinary skills so that only the best food is eaten by the people I love. Unfortunately, some of my early backers misunderstood the culinary process and decided to sue me…
Several of my closest friends and supporters have pledged to donate generously to help me. In light of the numerous pledges, I am still in need of financial assistance to reach my goal. If I do not raise $130,000 by August 15, 2017, I may no longer be able to continue working at 2 Cents LA. My absence will affect the other 17 beautiful people who work with me and pour their hearts and souls into the food that they prepare each day.
Welp, it appears that Alisa’s heartfelt plea for help has been answered last Friday when Issa, Solange, Kelly Rowland and director Melina Matsouka hosted an event that was also attended by Beyoncé, Jay Z, Tyler the Creator, Earl Sweatshirt according to HuffPo.
