Thousands Of Protesters Fill Boston Streets Against “Free Speech Rally”
The nation still hasn’t healed from the violent eruption that took place in Charlottesville, Virginia last weekend and claimed the life of non-violent counter-protester Heather Heyer.
According a report in DailyMail, a similar “far right” (see, white supremacist, neo-Nazi, racist azzhole) rally is set to take place today in of all places, Boston, and THOUSANDS have assembled to stands up and fight against hate and hate speech.
It is reported that 500 police are on deck to try to quell potential violence, but as tense as things are right now, violence almost seems inevitable.
The city has banned any weapons, guns, knives, projectiles and sticks used to construct protest signs. Additionally, streets have been blocked off to avoid any use of vehicles as weapons of mass destruction.
Democratic Mayor Mary Walsh has asked that protesters not attend the rally in fear of a race riot, but protest organizers like Monica Cannon ain’t goin’ for that:
‘Ignoring a problem has never solved it,’ Cannon said in a phone interview. ‘We cannot continue to ignore racism, ignore white supremacism, ignore neo-Nazis and pretend it’s not a problem.’
We’re keeping a VERY close eye on the situation at hand and we’ll be back to you with more updates as things develop.
We pray for the safety of those standing up against racism and hate. We could give a damn about “both sides”.
