New Nicki Minaj Verse Sounds A Lot Like A Cardi B Diss

London on da Track’s new song features a guest verse from Nicki Minaj. That’s great…if you’re into that sort of thing. Though there are still people out there listening to Nicki Minaj verses for pleasure, some of the hip-hop community is mostly listening to check for any jabs or soon-to-be important cultural moments.

When “No Flag” dropped on Thursday, people immediately noticed Nicki taking shots at somebody. And Cardi B definitely fits the bill. Quite frankly, it would be a pretty bad move on Minaj’s part to diss the underdog everybody’s rooting for right now–so of course, she denied it.

When one of her fans insisted the verse isn’t about Bardi, she chimed in to say it can’t be, because it was written a couple months ago. This “comeback” in itself is laced with disrespect, because she’s implying that Cardi wasn’t relevant a few months back.

Here’s the bar that got everybody speculating:

“Lil b*tch I heard these labels tryna make another me

Everything you getting, lil hoe, is cause of me”

First of all, the obvious “lil b*tch” could be a reference to the ubiquitous line in Cardi’s hit, “Bodak Yellow.” Beside that, it wouldn’t be surprising if Nicki was lowkey threatened by the Bronx native’s multi million dollar deal with Atlantic Records–which most definitely was on Minaj’s radar more than a couple months ago.

#UNBOTHERED

One situation that actually could make sense for an alternative jab is at UK rapper Lady Leshurr. Late last year, she came out saying that labels tried to pay her to start a beef with Nicki Minaj. She told The Guardian that Atlantic Records, “flew me out and we had a conversation, but their idea was that they were going to pit me against Nicki Minaj. It was like: ‘She’s the biggest female MC and you need to take her down.”

Though this is what many of Nicki’s unwaveringly loyal fans are saying the verse must be about, some still aren’t convinced. Why would she feel the need to diss a barely-relevant rapper whose majorly only successful on another continent? Plus, Leshurr didn’t take the large bag Atlantic supposedly offered, so “everything you getting, lil hoe, is cause of me” doesn’t really apply.

In a world that’s trying to see Cardi B flourish, Nicki looks like a hater trying to stop her shine. But maybe she really isn’t talking about her….whatever y’all say.
