Kendrick Is Promoting XXXTentacion And His Fans Are Fed Up

Hip-hop has been becoming more and more…let’s say, diverse, over the past few years. With all these new lil kiddies making their music that barely sounds like actual rapping, many of the more classic rappers often voice their opinions on whether or not they’re feeling the new wave.

Though Kendrick Lamar isn’t an old head by any means, he’s what many consider to be the best rapper in the game right now, and he’s obviously heavily influenced by many classic rap acts. Maybe not as influential, but many young fans see Kendrick in the same light that Tupac was in when he was alive. He’s one of the good ones.

Once XXXTentacion’s album hit the E-streets, a lot of people you’d expect to bash it were saying the music is actually really, really good. And while that might be true, the man behind the music has been proven to be XXXTremely problematic. His recent publicity stunt pretending to hang himself and his former jail stint for domestic violence is just the tip of the iceberg.

On Friday night, Kendrick Lamar Duckworth tweeted a link to XXXTarantula’s album urging fans to, “listen to this album if you feel anything”…and everyone was befuddled.

Even more baffling, our fave woke rapper followed that tweet up with this:

Surely our inspirational wordsmith isn’t tainting his ears with this man’s music….and he definitely isn’t telling us to do the same, right? He must have been hacked.

Some on Twitter were converts like Kenny, and were surprised to hear how good the music is. Others were disappointed that he would promote an album for someone so particularly harmful.

What do y’all think? Can you separate the person from their music, or is it all one in the same?

Hit the flip to see fan reactions to the surprising Kendrick co-sign.
