Woman Popped For Murder After Parrot Helps Prosecutors

Some sad and ironic news is coming from Michigan this week, and it involves a married couple, a gun and a parrot. According to the NY Daily News, a woman has been sentenced to life in prison for the shooting death of her husband in a crime apparently witnessed by the man’s pet parrot. Martin Duram, 46, was shot five times by his wife Glenna Duram in May 2015. Glenna Duram suffered a head wound in what prosecutors said was a suicide attempt, but survived.

In an ironic twist, Martin Durams ex-wife took ownership of the parrot after his death.  The ex-wife, Christina Keller, has said that the pet parrot, Bud, repeated “don’t (expletive) shoot” in Martin Duram’s voice. That was enough for the jury to convict the woman. Martin’s parent also corroborated her story according to WOOD.

There were no witnesses to the slaying — no human witnesses, that is. An African grey parrot was present, and Martin Duram’s parents believe they heard the bird recount their son’s final words.

They believe the parrot imitated the final argument that Martin and Glenna Duram had. They even recorded the parrot saying the eye-popping words: “Don’t f—— shoot.”

Reportedly her lawyers plan to appeal.
