Cobb County Officer To Be Fired For Telling Motorist “We Only Shoot Black People”
A Cobb County, GA officer who told a motorist to calm down because “they [police] only shoot people” will be fired. The news comes via Cobb County police Chief Mike Register who told Channel 2 Action News that Lt. Greg Abbott’s behavior is unacceptable.
“There’s really no place for these types of comments in law enforcement,” Register said during a news conference Thursday. “In no context can I tolerate this type of language.”
Register said the recommendation is to fire Abbott and they are putting the plans into motion to make that happen.
A Cobb County police officer is in hot water after dash cam footage showed him saying some unsavory words to an alleged drunk motorist in fear for their life. The video is from July 2016 and the veteran cop is on administrative leave after this video has been released.
In the footage, you can hear the officer say… “But you’re not black. Remember, we only shoot black people.”
