Hurricane Irma Hits Caribbean Islands As Category 5 Storm

Early this morning, Hurricane Irma laid its wrath upon the Caribbean islands of St. Martin, Antigua and Barbuda according to USAToday.

The level of concerned went up significantly when radio contact with the island was lost for HOURS.

French Interior Minister Gerard Collomb said this about the destruction on the island of St. Martin:

“We know that the four most solid buildings on the island have been destroyed which means that more rustic structures have probably been completely or partially destroyed,” he told reporters. The island prefect, an official appointed by France, and 23 staff took shelter in a concrete-lined room.

Experts say that Irma has moved on and is headed directly for Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Haiti and Cuba. The historic storm is thought to touch south Florida by Friday.

Apparently, companies like Delta aren’t seeing death and disaster, they see dollar signs…

The U.S. hasn’t experienced a category 5 hurricane in 25 years, but it appears that that is about to change.

If you live in south Florida, get the hell outta there! This is not the storm to “ride out”.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the residents of the other Caribbean islands that lay in Irma’s catastrophic path.
