Rochester College Apologizes For Masturbation And Sex Assault Demo

When it comes to the subject of sexual harassment, sexual assault, and rape, people have espoused the dumbest of opinions and spouted off the most ignorant of commentary, but some folks are supposed to know better. Educated folks, like, University administrators and the like.

We came across this story on ABCNews and apparently Rochester Institute of Technology held a seminar for incoming Freshman students that suggested that masturbation is a deterrent to sexual assault.

Right.

The slide show uses Winnie the Pooh’s lil’ homie Roo as a advisory acronym.

R.O.O. = “Rub One Out”

You can see the closed caption clearly reads: “Self-gratification can prevent sexual assault”

Although the school’s president graciously apologized to “those offended”, director of RIT’s Center for Women and Gender, Darci Lane-Williams, had this to say:

“At no point did we say that masturbation is a deterrent to rape,” Lane-Williams said. “We were talking about situations in which someone may want to do something sexually, and their partner withdraws consent and what options they have if they find themselves sexually frustrated once they leave.”

Oh, by the way, this seminar that is supposed to teach Freshman college students how to behave was called “Alcohol and Chill”. So there’s that.
