Issa Rae Is Adding Another Series To Her Resume
It looks like Insecure star and creator Issa Rae already has another HBO project in the works.
Deadline reports that the actress/writer/director/producer is developing a new HBO drama that follows a black family in early-1990s Los Angeles. The show is reportedly set to focus on a husband and wife, Jackson and Sheryl. Jackson’s character is “a conflicted LAPD anti-gang task force recruit,” while Sheryl is an “envelope bounds-pushing real estate agent.” The show will also feature the couple’s teenage children—daughter Ebony and son Les.
Rae is going to be executive producing the currently untitled series, along with some help from The Turner House author Angela Flournoy. Issa told Deadline, “I’m so thrilled to be working with Angela. I was a huge fan of The Turner House and we feel so lucky to bring her beautiful storytelling to HBO.” Flournoy is writing the series as well.
Issa HBO takeover! Keep on prospering, Ms. Rae.
