Stylist Dishes On The Seasons Hottest Fall Looks

You may know her as the former long-term partner of Cleveland Cavaliers’ Derrick Rose, but Mieka Reese is far more than a WAG.

Reese is the CEO of Joi Toi Clothing, an upscale active and casual wear clothing line, as well as Rich Girl Candy, an online luxury boutique. She has styled the likes of Serena Williams, “Basketball Wives” Malaysia Pargo as well as Rose.

We spoke to the fashion stylist about her day to day life, the top trends for fall and how you can rock them off the runway:

BOSSIP: What are the top five trends you are seeing for fall fashion?
M.R.: “Velvet, 70’s Vibes (flared pants, tie-dye, floral prints) headbands, Crystal rhinestones embellishments, plaids.”

BOSSIP: How can women rock these trends?
M.R.: “All the trends for this Fall can easily be incorporated into your work wardrobe as well as any social events you might have. My advice would be to minimize your ‘trendy’ pieces and mix them into your staples. Don’t wear velvet with tie-dye, plaid, and a headband all in one look, lol.”

BOSSIP: What are you seeing trending in men’s fashion?
M.R.: “My favorite men’s trend is denim on denim. Denim jackets are back (again) and are often paired with their favorite pair of denim jeans or even a denim button-up shirt. Another trend I love to see is casual or evening-wear dressed down with sneakers or baseball cap.”

BOSSIP: What new brands are emerging for the autumn season?
M.R.: “A couple of brands that made an impact this year to me are Unraveled Project, Y Project, and of course Off White and Vetnements.”

BOSSIP: Tell us about your work and what you do day to day.
M.R.: “A day for me as a business owner involves a lot of emails, trips to FedEx/Post office, fittings, fabric swatches, comparing qualities, prices, availability, comfort. Also, some of the products I offer, like phone cases, I get manufactured in China. So my workday doesn’t end at 5 P.M., lol. I have to set alarms to wake up/stay up at midnight which is when I began my second shift, taking Skype meetings with my partners overseas. Those last to about 4 A.M., 5 A.M. Then my work day here begins at 9 A.M.”
