14-Year-Old Native American Boy Shot Dead By Police

A Wisconsin family still has questions for authorities today as their son, 14-year-old Jason Ike Pero was shot dead by police over the weekend.

Ashland County Sheriff’s Deputy Brock Mrdjenovich fatally shot the boy last week after being dispatched to his from a 911 report that a male was pacing the street with a butcher knife in his hand.

According to CNN, when Mrdjenovich arrived on the scene, he found Pero with a dull knife, later discovered to have been taken from his family kitchen. He says Pero approached him with the weapon, ignoring multiple demands to drop it. The officer pumped two shots into the teen, and he was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The state Department of Justice reports that “Pero was the same person that called 911 reporting a man with a knife, giving his own physical description.” Pero had reported feeling ill early in the school day and returned home, before making the phone call that led to his death. Apparently, a search of the teen’s bedroom suggested that he had been “despondent” for a few days before his death, though they did not fully explain what that meant.

Of course, the boy’s family say none of this adds up because he wouldn’t hurt a fly, and his grandfather had observed him watching TV and drinking 7up while wrapped up in a blanket after he picked him up from school.

SMH. Folks are already calling for #JusticeForJason, so it will be interesting to see what happens as this continues to unfold.
