A career crook and “escape artist” walked out of a Manhattan courthouse after he was mistaken for a well dressed  lawyer.  Ronald Tackman who switched into a three piece suit shed the suit after he escaped the jail successfully.

55-year-old Ronald Tackman was facing life sentences in two counties when he escaped for felonies on his rap sheet.  Tackman’s lawyer says that his client is slippery but definitely not a dangerous man. Ronald fled immediately to his mother’s home where he did a quick wardrobe change and left the building with a bag in his hand.  His 81 year old mother admitted to authorities that she saw her son only for a second and didn’t know  where he was  hiding. She wasn’t charged.  Ronald’s mother wishes that her son would turn himself in.

Apparently, Tackman was able to sneak downstairs into a waiting area for prisoners on trial after his hearing was dismissed.  Once there, a court officer mistook him for a lawyer as he was dressed in a suit for his own hearing, and immediately told him to leave. Once officers realized that Ronald had escaped, it was far too late.

He is charged with five counts of robbery in Manhattan and another in Queens. He was in the custody of the city Department of Correction when he was transported from Rikers to the criminal courts building. He is still on the loose.
