Kendrick Lamar Drops A Collectors Edition Of DAMN.
Kendrick Lamar’s latest album DAMN. just recently earned seven Grammy nominations. Now, many months after the initial release of the critically acclaimed project, things are getting even more interesting. By dissecting the overall story of the album, many fans had theories that the order of the project is actually in reverse, and the tracklist is meant to be played backwards–now, that fact seems pretty obvious considering the latest release from the TDE superstar.
Just in time for the holidays, Lamar has released a collectors edition of DAMN., with different album artwork and a tracklist thats reversed based on the project that came out in April. In August, Kendrick confirmed speculation that the album could be played in reverse saying, “I think like a week after the album came out, [fans] realized you can play the album backwards,” he told MTV News. “It plays as a full story and even a better rhythm. It’s one of my favorite rhythms and tempos within the album. It’s something that we definitely premeditate while we’re in the studio.”
Pictures surfaced early of a collectors edition CD being put into stores, with numbers on the back indicating how many were released–so fans should get out early to get their collectors item before all of them sell out.
Shoutout to Kendrick capitalizing on the market and releasing the same album twice. Get your bread, king.
