Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson Is The Subject Of A New Musical In London

The Rock Is Excited To Have Inspire A New Musical

According to reports from Metro, the Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson  has inspired a new stage production titled, The People’s Rock, which is on its way to debut in the U.K. next week.

The story is set in 2050 and follows an English teen living in the United States. The country is ruled by a tyrant named Emperor Trumpus, who unsurprisingly has outlawed pretty much everything. Most of the population can no longer remember the past, but the musical’s protagonist becomes completely obsessed with the legend of The Rock, who is portrayed as a “fantasy/religious role model hybrid.”

Being the stand-up guy that he is, Johnson even tweeted about the play and mentions loving it, telling the all female writing team that he will be at the play’s premiere in spirit.

Also worth noting,  the musical is entirely live-action except for Johnson…who is portrayed as a puppet. The producer, Emma Shaw, said the team decided to use a puppeteer because it was hard to find an actor who could portray Johnson accurately.

The People’s Rock will premiere Wednesday at the Network Theatre in London.
