It’s a wrap!

Dr. Simone Whitmore Speaks On Her Cecil Whitmore Divorce

Dr. Simone of “Married To Medicine” fame is speaking on the end of her marriage to her husband of 21 years. As previously reported the OBGYN revealed to PEOPLE that she filed for divorce from her husband Cecil in October and plans to have the paperwork finalized following the “Married To Medicine” reunion.

Now Dr. Simone’s revealing the moment she knew things were a wrap between her and her longtime hubby. According to Simone after they dropped off their oldest son Miles at college, they had a disagreement that they never recovered from.

“The final straw came about a month after Miles began college. “Cecil and I had a disagreement,” she recalled to PEOPLE. “We were trying to talk through it — with sometimes tense, sometimes normal negotiations in process — and he woke up on Saturday morning, we had a blow-up. I knew that day that my marriage was over.”

“My marriage had ended,” she added. “I could no longer deal with the stuff he was dishing.”

Simone also revealed that she and Cecil should’ve continued going to couple’s therapy. There were seen on “Married To Medicine” going to sex therapy with the rest of the show’s stars, and Simone told the therapist that she often feels under appreciated.

“He’s not always emotionally available,” said Dr. Simone. “I need a husband that says I love you, there are days where I don’t feel loved.”

Damn. It’s sad to see that these two couldn’t make it work, but Simone’s putting on a brave face on social media.

Dr. Simone wants fans to know that although she and her spouse looked like a “fun couple”, their problems were no laughing matter.

“I know Cecil and I look like a fun couple to everyone on the outside, but it takes more to make a marriage work,” she said. “One of the things I was most proud about on our show was the realistic portrayal of black love, with all of the married couples showing America the real ups and downs of raising families. And sadly … divorce is 50 percent in this country.”
