Take a romantic trip for two to the Dominican Republic’s “Amber Coast” for a stay in one of the Tropical Lotus Villas’ private homes. Owner operator Maxine Gladden said the collection of five villas – built into a mountainside – have all the amenities of a resort, like a private chef, driver, infinity pool and spa services – but with a major dose of privacy.

The villas are a 15 minute drive from the beach, bars and restaurants and the area’s main town.
“You’re secluded,” Gladden said, “but you’re still close to everything that’s happening.”

You may spot a celeb or two at the romantic hotspot: Colin Kaepernick vacationed there with his girlfriend, radio personality Nessa, and a number of “Real Housewives” have also spent time there.
