Kevin Hart Has A New Show in The Works

Deadline has reported that Fox picked up a pilot presentation for an animated show titled Lil Kev—a series based on Kevin Hart and his childhood. The series will be written by Michael Price of The Simpsons and Matt Claybrooks of Everybody Hates Chris. The characters on the series will feature voice work from some major talent including Wanda Sykes, Keith Robertson, Gerald Johnson, and Deon Cole.

According to reports from Deadline, the show will revolve around “the story of a 12-year-old, pint-sized, optimistic, highly imaginative kid who navigates growing up in the crime filled inner-city of North Philly.” Along with Kev’s own storylines, the series will also include appearances from “his strong, quick-tempered mother, drug addicted father, pessimistic older brother, ex-con uncle, and wise-ass talking dog.”

Michael Thorn, who is Fox’s new entertainment president, gave his own synopsis of the show’s plot, explaining, “It’s About Kevin Hart’s experiences growing up and how his relationship with his mother and his community led to his optimistic, positive outlook despite some of the challenges and circumstances that he grew up with.”

Thorn explained that Lil Kev was made a priority because of Fox’s desire to add new animated programming to go along with The Simpsons, Family Guy, and Bob’s Burgers.

Congrats to Kev on his new series!
