Emantic Fitzgerald Bradford Jr.’s Family Hires Civil Rights Attorney Ben Crump

A famed civil rights attorney is once again stepping in to represent the family of a fallen black man. Benjamin Crump who famously represented the families of Mike Brown, Tamir Rice, and Trayvon Martin is lead counsel for the family of Emantic Fitzgerald Bradford Jr.

As previously reported the 21-year-old was mistaken for a gunman who shot an 18-year-old boy twice and injured a 12-year-old girl with a stray bullet. There are reports that Bradford known as “EJ” had a license to carry and was trying to break up the fight that resulted in the shooting when police killed him.

AL.com reports that Attorney Crump released this statement from Bradford’s family;

“Our family is completely shocked, heartbroken and devastated at the tragic death of our beloved ‘E.J.’ E.J. was a devoted son and brother who dedicated his life to serving his country and always doing the right thing. As we continue to grieve, rest assured that we our working with our legal team to determine exactly what happened and why this police officer killed our son. We will never forget E.J. and ask for your continued prayers during this incredibly difficult time.”

With EJ dead, police believe there is at least one gunman still at-large.

Protestors are calling for a boycott of the Riverchase Galleria mall where EJ was killed. They’re also demanding that police release bodycam footage.

We agree with them, it’s time for Alabama police to give this family some answers.
