Chadwick Boseman And Spike Lee Are Teaming Up For A Film

Chadwick Boseman already has his next big starring role in the works, and this time, he’s working with another legendary creative.

According to reports from The Hollywood Reporter, the Black Panther has been tapped to star in the Spike Lee-directed drama, Da 5 Bloods. The film is going to center on a group of Vietnam veterans who return to the jungle “to find their lost innocence” and “to put their broken selves back together.” Da 5 Bloods is based on an original screenplay by Danny Bilson and Paul DeMeo and Lee will produce the project alongside Jon Kilik along with Beatriz and Lloyd Levin.

As of now, Netflix is in talks to distribute Da 5 Bloods, which would mark the first time Spike Lee film for the streaming service, though he currently executive produces She’s Gotta Have It for the platform, which is a small-screen adaptation of his 1986 film.

“Netflix is incredibly disruptive, and I think streaming and Netflix is the future of cinema. You can have access to it anytime and anywhere. That is what people need,” Lee explained during a panel discussion back in September of last year. “Netflix is a friend of young filmmakers. These people need product. Netflix spent $8 billion this year only for film and series.”

According to the information sources told Variety, Da 5 Bloods could begin filming as early as next month, once Spike Lee finishes his Oscars campaign. He is up for three Academy Awards for his film, BlacKkKlansman.

Chadwick Boseman and Spike Lee could be a match made in heaven–but we’ll just have to wait and see.
