Hair Expert Nikki Regis Talks Natural Hair Styles For Spring

This week ushers in the Spring season – and for many of us, that means looking for a warm-weather style revamp.

So we sat down with celebrity hairstylist Nikki Regis, of the Thomas Taft Salon in NYC, to talk about the hot new looks for natural hair. Regis – who specializes in protective styles, cuts, coloring and transitioning back to natural – said the new crop of hairstyles for natural hair was all about textured looks to let your style stand out.

Low cuts are becoming the latest trend in natural hair, Regis said. Her clients are also requesting additions of bright colors like neon, reds, and blues.

“Whether you choose not to do a color, the main focus is on fun styles that are short, tapered and edgy,” Regis said.

Hit the flip for some hair inspo:

Angled Afro

“The angle fro is less circular and more triangular. I recommend this style for those who are not fans of a round afro. Similar to a bob, but larger and has more angles.”

The Pineapple

“The pineapple style is ideal for when you want to maintain your curls and get some beauty rest. It also serves as a style that you can wear out into the world. It gives a soft, tousled look while still keeping curls in place.”
