Men Arrested For Live Streaming Guests In South Korea Hotel Rooms

Two men were recently arrested in South Korea after authorities say they secretly live streamed hotel guests for paying customers to see. CNN reports that around 1,600 people were recorded without consent at 30 different hotels in 10 cities around the country.

Unbeknownst to guests, there were cameras installed in digital TV boxes, wall sockets and sometimes hair dryers for a whopping 4,000 customers. South Korean authorities say 97 of them paid a $44.95 monthly fee to access “extra features” that included live stream replays.

“There was a similar case in the past where illegal cameras were (secretly installed) and were consistently and secretly watched, but this is the first time the police caught where videos were broadcast live on the internet,” police said.

CNN adds that live streaming/voyeurism has been a growing problem in South Korea. In 2017 alone more than 6,400 cases of illegal filming were reported to police.

SMH, what would YOU do if you found out you were secretly recorded???
