TV Host To Undergo Surgery For A Lump Spotted By Viewer
Inside Edition anchor Deborah Norville revealed to viewers on Monday that she is going to have a surgery to remove a cancerous nodule on her thyroid.
“The doctor says it’s a very localized form of cancer, which tomorrow I’ll have surgery to have removed. There’ll be no chemo, I’m told no radiation, but I will have surgery and I’ll be away for a bit,” the host said on Inside Edition. “If you believe in prayer, please say one for me and for my surgeon and I thank you very much.”
What’s absolutely crazy about this development is the fact that Norville said she first became aware of the lump on her neck not on her own, but from a viewer who spotted it. “A long time ago an Inside Edition viewer reached out to say she’d seen something on my neck. It was a lump,” she explained. “I’d never noticed the thing, but I did have it checked out and the doctor said it was nothing, a thyroid nodule. And for years, it was nothing. Until recently, it was something.”
In her absence, Norville said she would be temporarily replaced by her colleague Diane McInerney while she recovers. Deborah has been a longtime presence on the show as an anchor since 1995.
