Lil Nas X Gets Billy Ray Cyrus On “Old Town Road” Remix

Last night, Lil Nas X, the creator of the biggest song on your timeline, streaming service, and radio station, “Old Town Road”, announced that despite the fact that Billboard inexplicably removed his hit from the country charts, still, he would rise.

Country legend (and Miley Cyrus’ dad) Billy Ray Cyrus has laid vocals and will appear on the remix to viral hit of the year thus far, and Rolling Stone has some details about his feature.

Cyrus announces himself immediately by singing the first hook: “I’m gonna take my horse to the old town road/ I’m gonna ride ’til I can’t no more.” He shows up again towards the end of the banjo-heavy hip-pop single, adding a throaty verse that emphasizes the triumphant aspects of Lil Nas X’s hit: fancy jewelry, expensive cars and living a stress-free life. “Old Town Road” was short to start with, and even with another verse, it stays succinct, clocking in below 2:40.

It’s gonna be real interesting to see how the clowns at Billboard respond when THIS version, complete with a certified country icon, goes straight to the top of the charts. Is Billy Ray muthaf***in’ Cyrus not enough “country elements” for their mayo mindset???

Way to go, kid. Can’t nobody tell you nothin’.
