Charges Dropped Against Black Woman Punched In

Last week we reported on an ugly incident in Dallas between L’Daijohnique Lee and Austin Shuffield. Shuffield was captured on video slapping Lee’s cell phone out of her hand and punching her with a closed fist five times while berating her, allegedly calling her the n-word, and pulling a gun on her.

Today, we have an update to that story via NBCNews, despite being the victim of violence at the white man’s hands, L’Daijohnique was charged with a felony after she admitted to smashing the windows out of Shuffield’s car after being attacked.

The damage done to the car was estimated at over $3,000 which makes it a felony. After police verified that quote they issued an arrest warrant for L’Daijohnique.

Prosecutors have decided to drop the criminal mischief charge against her.

Says Dallas police chief Thomas Castro:

“It is not the intention of the Dallas Police Department to pick one side or the other,” Castro said. “We simply had information that was provided to us on a criminal offense, and we thoroughly investigated that offense and we took the action that was taken.”
