Man Shares His Ridiculous Hospital Bill After Failed Suicide Attempt
According to the NY Post, A 21-year-old Oklahoma resident shared his hospital bill on Twitter a year after a failed suicide attempt and it’s depressing.
Oliver Jordan, 21, posted his hospital bill on his Twitter account and the tweet has since gone viral. The full page of medical expenses totaled up to him owing the hospital $93,000 for attempting to take his own life.
He wrote, “This is how expensive it is to attempt suicide in the US.” Jordan’s tweet also elicited responses from followers who expressed their own suicide-attempt related issues.
Although the Health Care Cost Institute reported from data collected since 2016 that the average cost of such a visit will run the patient $1,917, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health noted that many hospitals mark up this baseline cost by more than 1,000 percent in similar instances.
