James Byrd Jr’s Killer To Be Executed This Week
On June 7, 1998, three white men, including John William King, offered James Byrd Jr. a ride home. They then beat him bloody and chained him to the back of their pickup truck. When it was all said and done Byrd had been dragged for 3 miles, his body ripping to shreds before the men dumped him in the woods outside of Jasper, Texas. Police say Bryd was targeted for murder because he was black.
According to Fox5DC, the ringleader of the hate crime, John William King, will be executed tomorrow. King will be the second man involved in this case to die for his crime, Lawrence Russell Brewer was sent to Hell in 2011. The third man, Shawn Allen Berry, got life in prison.
Ironically, at the of Byrd’s dragging death, the town of Jasper was known as “progressive” touting an African-American mayor and several Black people in notable city positions.
But racism and hate don’t give a damn about all that.
Suffer and burn, John William King. We truly hope you are restless with no peace.
