Cop Charged For Shooting Unarmed Black Woman Accused Of Shoplifting

Another day, another cop shooting an unarmed Black person with zero justification.

A police officer named Julia Crews who worked in the St. Louis-area neighborhood of Ladue has been charged with second-degree assault after she shot a Black woman who had been accused of stealing from a local grocery store according to STLToday. Crews, a 13-year vet of the department, is facing 7 years in prison, her bail was set at $20,000.

The victim, Ashley Hall, was said to be with another woman pushing a cart full of hundreds of dollars of unpaid meat and fish past the self check-out register of a Schnucks in the affluent area. When approached by a store employee, one of the women ran off and the other, Hall, allegedly grabbed some items first then ran off after a brief struggle.

Crews approached Hall in the parking lot and tried to handcuff her. When Ashley broke away from the officer she was chased and Crews allegedly yelled “Taser! Taser! Taser!” before grabbing her gun and firing a single shot.

Crews had pulled her 9 mm Glock from a holster on her right hip, Noble said. The Taser was holstered just inside her left hip. Ladue officers, like most officers, carry their Tasers on their weak side to force officers into a different muscle memory pattern when drawing their less lethal weapon. It’s known as a “cross-draw” position.

Ashley’s father says she’s “fighting for her life” after undergoing five surgical procedures.

Check out what her mother had to see in the video below.

We hope this charge isn’t just for show and this chick really goes to jail. How the hell can’t you tell the difference between a bright yellow taser and jet black Glock?! GTFOHWTBS.
