Lil Wayne’s New Album Is Coming Before Blink 182 Tour
It looks like Lil Wayne is releasing a new album to accompany his upcoming tour with Blink 182.
After announcing pre-sale tickets for the tour earlier in the week, fans took to Ticketmaster in hopes of copping their tickets for the highly anticipated show before they officially go on sale this Friday. Fans quickly noticed while browsing through the seating options that a message from Ticketmaster confirms that each purchase comes with an option to pre-order physical copies of either Blink-182 or Lil Wayne’s forthcoming albums.
“Your ticket comes with a physical CD per order with your choice of Blink-182’s or Lil Wayne’s forthcoming album. Approximately 24-48 hours after purchase, you will receive an additional email with instruction on how to redeem your album. US/Canadian residents only. One CD per online order. Not valid for Fan to Fan Resale,” the website says in its message.
Automatically, it seems pretty clear that that this means we’re finally getting a follow-up to Wayne’s last album, Tha Carter V. Just last month, the rapper took to his Instagram Story and posted an emoji of a coffin, causing fans to speculate that the cryptic post has something to do with Weezy being ready to release his long-rumored Funeral album. During an interview a couple years back on The Nine Club podcast, Wayne claimed he had a project called Funeral in his stash but never confirmed a release date for the project–but the time might finally be here.
“Just make sure they know that Funeral is coming soon,” he said back in 2016. “That’s my music. Get your roses ready. I don’t have a release date, but I have a whole bunch of good news coming soon. If you’re a Wayne fan, I know we’ve been going through a lot of tough times right now, but if you are a Wayne fan, we about to hold our heads high soon.”
