Colorado Cop Resigns After Pulling Gun On Black Man Picking Up Trash

Some of you may remember the story we posted a few months ago about a Colorado police officer who pulled his service pistol on a 26-year-old Black man named Zayd Atkinson who was simply picking up trash outside of his home.

Well, according to ABCNews, officer John Smyly has resigned from the Boulder police force after it was found that he violated department policy about drawing his weapon.

“While the finding likely would have resulted in suspension or possibly termination, Officer Smyly resigned prior to the conclusion of the disciplinary process,” a statement released by the City of Boulder on Thursday reads.

A police internal affairs report obtained by ABC News shows Smyly’s decision to attempt to detain Atkinson “was not supported by reasonable suspicion that Mr. Atkinson was committing, had committed, or was about to commit a crime.”

Punk a$$ police. Y’all hate us, we hate y’all too.
