Ellen Degeneres is having herself quite a messy 2020. While her show was on hiatus during COVID, former staffers have come out of the woodwork to speak up about mistreatment including a “toxic work environment”, intimidation and racism.  Even actor Brad Garrett took to twitter to support the rumors, claiming that he personally knew staff that been “treated horribly” by Ellen and the shows management team.

This caused Ellen to apologize:

“On day one of our show, I told everyone in our first meeting that The Ellen DeGeneres Show would be a place of happiness – no one would ever raise their voice, and everyone would be treated with respect,” she wrote at the time. “Obviously, something changed, and I am disappointed to learn that this has not been the case. And for that, I am sorry. Anyone who knows me knows it’s the opposite of what I believe and what I hoped for our show.”

Behind the scenes, though, she feels betrayed and may be ready to call it quits. Here’s what US Magazine says:

“She is p**** that people have come forward to share these negative stories about her and feels betrayed,” the source continues, noting that the comedian, 62, feels like a “target” because of her success.

“She knows she can be tough at times,” the insider says, “but believes she works hard and is extremely creative.”

All of that has the world speculating that she is stepping down. That speculation is leading to people wondering who could take her place. We took a look and noted some pretty qualified BLACK women who could handle the job.

Hit the flip and see for yourselves.

Tabitha – The TikTok star has gone viral for her smooth voice and the way she makes people feel good. Give her the show. No guests. Just her talking.

Tiffany Pollard – New York’s ascent to media greatness was as unexpected as it was inspiring. She has reinvented herself as a media darling and we love to see it. Give her the show and she’ll be the new Wendy.

Tiffany Haddish – She is certainly polarizing but she has a million shows for a reason. She has the charisma to pull it off. Let’s do it!

Nicole Byer – The host of “Nailed It” is just a joy to watch. She has the patience of a nun and can get the job done. #Bars.

Keke Palmer – She already showed she can handle the talk show game and handle it well. But given her own show? Oh, absolutely.

Mo’Nique – Hey, she may not be the most conventional choice and she can go off the rails on a few topics but dammit if she won’t go off like she did on her BET talk show.

Alicia Keys – She can do her own theme song, what is there not to like? A musician running the show can add a brand new fire wrinkle.

Beyonce – We can dream, right? Well, we could until we realize she doesn’t speak to the mere mortals anymore. It was nice while it lasted.
