A former assistant to the Wayans Brothers is suing them for unspecified damages, saying they snatched his “You know you’re a Golddigger …” book and published it as their own.

Jared Edwards who was an assistant to the Wayans since 1995 states he wrote jokes about women who seek wealth and status through romance. He says the brothers initially rejected his book, but in May published their own: “101 Ways to Know You’re a Golddigger.”
The lawsuit was filed in federal court in Manhattan on Thursday against Keenen Ivory Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Marlon Wayans and St. Martin’s Press. No statements have been released from either the Wayans or St. Martin’s Press.
