The New Year should NOT start off like this…
A 9-year-old New Jersey boy was stabbed to death in a Harlem housing project early Saturday while visiting relatives, police and family said.
About 3:30 a.m., fourth-grader Anthony Maldonado knocked on the door of his uncle’s room in the Grant Houses and collapsed with a chest wound. “Uncle, uncle, I’ve been stabbed,” he said. Paramedics rushed the boy to St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital but he couldn’t be saved.
The NYPD said no arrests have been made, but police sources said a man in his 20s was being questioned at the 26th Precinct stationhouse. Cops were searching elevator shafts and Dumpsters in the housing project last night, apparently looking for the murder weapon.
Anthony had been visiting his grandfather for the holidays.
We do have to ask, why is a 9-year-old boy not in the house at 3:30am???
