Mike Greenberg Apologizes For Turning MLK Day Into Racial Slur

- By Bossip Staff

Greenberg says he’s a word-garbler! But he’s not above apologizing. Check out the ESPN host’s attempt at humble pie after the jump.

I just came home from the Knicks game and found out about the mess that was created by my garbling a sentence on our show this morning; I apologize for not addressing it sooner.

And I’m sorry that my talking too fast – and slurring my words – might have given people who don’t know our show the wrong impression about us, and about me.

I feel horrible about that, because nothing could be further away from who I am and what our show is about.

I would never say anything like that, not in public, or in private, or in the silence of my own mind, and neither would anyone associated with our show, and I’m very sorry that my stumble this morning gave so many people the opposite impression.

Now that Greenberg’s apologized, is this going to be something the public will quickly forget or will his turn of words haunt him for the rest of his career?

To tell you the truth, half of the ppl making a big thing outta this probably say the “N” word out their mouth religiously! I tell you what, when we can learn to stop killing and degrading our own ppl, then maybe we can say something to them! I believe it was a mix-up of words that just had a bad combination! Let it go!!!

Very funny, Schwartza. You’re an anti-semite. If it wasn’t for my people, your people wouln’t have the jobs you have today. Show some gratitude.

Learn how to spell, schwartza! Us jews are Gods’ chosen, while you schwartza’s are God’s forsaken. Why do think your kind always lag behind? Now being so sensitive.

I agree with Imperial. “King Jr.” is what he was trying to say. But he said the k of King and jumped to Junior. Midway through, he corrected his brain’s miss fire and said Mr. King’s name correctly. How many times have we all mixed up words because we were talking too fast? It happens and you know what? I’m really not offended. Let it go…

Sensitive — you don’t have any concept of IRONY, do you Abner ?

he didn’t need to apologize I was listening to the show and he talks fast and got tongue-tied. He is not a racist unlike some of you idiots on here.

Racist much, people? Quick to degrade someone else who you felt slighted you with an equally offensive slur. Is that what King took all those ***** whuppings for? Your sinking down to his level to make yourself feel better.

There was a rabbi and a catholic priest who used to appear on the Don Imus show (and I by the way thought Imus should have REMAINED on the air — it’s called FREE SPEECH).

THE rabbi said something I truly loved “you don’t have to love everybody, you just have to HATE THE RIGHT PEOPLE”.

I think he was 100% RIGHT.

  • Please stop

Man he just got the words “King” and “junior” brought together in his fast talking. King plus junior can equal “Koon” or “koonior” if your talkin fast. We have all done it before. No big deal. Let it slide.

Schwartza, you remind of this uppity black kid I used to mentor, but he always let his mouth and pride get in the way of the little progress I was making in bettering his life. Eventually I had to turn my back on him due to his habitual drug use…And to think, I had a custodial a s s i s t a n t position lined up for him.

    @Abner Kravitz
How noble Abner, I always admire how GLIBLY you yamulke-heads can dish it out.

And how thin-skinned you are when it comes back at you.

“Hate the right people” — that rabbi so aptly summed it up, because like HIM, I don’t believe you have to Loooooooove EVERYBODY.

And it think it’s perfectly appropriate to give t-i-t for t-a-t. Sort of like the eye for an eye stuff, that your people wrote.

Always admired you for that, really.

It’s Schwartza’s like you that makes me wonder why I bother donating $50,000 a year to the United Negro Fund in order to give you blacks a fighting chance at making something better of yourselves…But you know what? You blacks are your own worst enemies.

  • foxxy cleopatra foster

i’m so glad i keep my interactions with white people at a bare minimum. people like him just reaffirm my decision to keep them at bay.

  • Abner Kravitz

Calm down, Schwartza. How do you expect to
p a s s that job aptitude test in order to be considered for a position as a s s i s t a n t custodial engineer. I’m sure a black of your qualifications would excel in mopping and wiping.
