Looting Violence In Haiti Turns Ugly, Anderson Cooper Comes To The Aid Of Haitian Boy

- By Bossip Staff

Cameras captured violence on the streets of Haiti as an angry mob of looters scrapped over the goods they recovered. CNN journalist Anderson Cooper was nearly caught in the melee trying to help a young boy who was beaten so badly that blood poured from a wound in his head. The footage is extremely graphic, but you can CLICK HERE TO SEE WHAT HAPPENED.

This makes my heart ache. I’ve always had a crush on Anderson Cooper (even though I’ve heard he’s gay) because he genuinely seems like a good person. I know he and Dr. Gupta are both nervous being down there but they are helping those people and I can’t do anything but respect that…

Doctor: Misinformation and Racism Have Frozen Recovery Effort at General Hospital in Port-au-Prince

One thing that I think is really important for people to understand is that misinformation and rumors and, I think at the bottom of the issue, racism has slowed the recovery efforts of this hospital. Security issues over the last forty-eight hours have been our—quote “security issues” over the last forty-eight hours have been our leading concern. And there are no security issues. I’ve been with my Haitian colleagues. I’m staying at a friend’s house in Port-au-Prince. We’re working for the Ministry of Public Health for the direction of this hospital as volunteers. But I’m living and moving with friends. We’ve been circulating throughout the city until 2:00 and 3:00 in the morning every night, evacuating patients, moving materials. There’s no UN guards. There’s no US military presence. There’s no Haitian police presence. And there’s also no violence. There is no insecurity.

  • oh please

The media and government, wants this happen. to show the world, how dysfunctional that society is without rules, it’s total chaos. all of the power leaders are going to have a private war on who should control Haiti. when people have no laws they resort to acting primitive…sorry but true. out of desperation, it will bring the worst… everyone pray for them…. it will take years but the country can come back… with new leadership …. to offer employment stability…and the sense of pride to be self sufficient….

It’s really sad. Let them take stuff, they’re in need of food and water!!!
Is this what happened during Katrina? Like black people looted and were arrested or killed and white people were allowed to loot? I really don’t remember…

  • AWWWWWWWWWWSHADDAAAP!!!!

That poor kid. How horrible. With each day, the frustration builds and people will become more desperate. This is going to get worse before it gets any better.

I love Anderson Cooper! Ever since Hurricane Katrina, I’ve been impressed with him.

Retired Lt. Gen. Honore was on CNN a couple of days ago making the point that whenever “security” trumps saving lives after humanitarian crises people miss the point. Just because people are poor doesn’t make them dangerous.

I hate it when the media portray black and brown people under extremely stressful situations like in the aftermath of a hurricane or an earthquake as looting savages.

The people of Port-au-Prince have had their entire city turned into a morgue. There is no food, no fresh water, and no communication, yet some people in the media are acting as if the people should behave like they are at a tea party. GTHOOH!

  • OCAPKID AKA HAITI

    @OCAPKID AKA HAITI
I’d love to see you wait to die, on food that might come….that’s crazy yo, when walmart is destroyed are you tellin me you wouldn’t go into a destoyed wal-mart for basic needs….get the f*ck outta here with that nonsense, this is just a excuse to demonize the people so other sh*t can soon be implemented

At this point, it’s not looting
    it’s surviving.

Most of the money is going to
    rebuilding efforts and health care.
Those are in some cases long term needs.

People are hungry NOW. Not next week. NOW.

And if your child is crying for food and everything you had before is gone, what do you do?

What ever it takes. You survive.
I have three children and baby let me tell you, if the only option I had left was to break down wall to feed my children, the wall would be coming down.

We shouldn’t make these people into criminals just because they are trying to survive.

This may get worse before it gets better.

I cheered for the lady, carrying what looked like a huge bag of rice. You better feed your children girl and worry about the news later.
