Rihanna Primps Carib-Style For “Rude Boy” Video
We haven’t seen Rihanna rep Bajan culture much since her first album, but it’s looking like her next video will do just that. Def Jam came up off some photos from her “Rude Boy” video, which is set to premiere Thursday. Check the flipside for more shots and some details on the video.
“[It’s] completely different from any other video I’ve shot before,” Rihanna told Carson Daly on his Amp Radio show. “A lot of my videos are really dark and edgy and tough. ‘Rude Boy’ is more playing along the lines from my roots.”
“We used a lot of color, but also the costumes were very Jamaican dance-hall queen type,” she added.
The video is directed by Melina Matsoukas. Seems like it doesn’t really matter what the influence is for Rihanna’s videos, she’s not gonna be leaving much to the imagination when it comes to the costumes. Are you feeling her dancehall stylee?
