Rickey Smiley's Son Brandon Smiley Dies

Rickey Smiley has thanked fans for their thoughts and prayers while revealing that he’s devastated by his son’s passing.

“I took a sleeping pill, I only slept for four hours,” said Smiley in a YouTube video. “I don’t have an appetite but I feel bad for Mr. and Ms. Nichols up in Memphis, all the parents that have ever been through this. I just thought I’d never be a member of the organization where you have to bury your kid. It’s a terrible nightmare.”

Smiley did not share a cause of death but noted that Brandon Smiley was scheduled to go to church with his grandma before the family received the news.

“My mom talked to my son yesterday morning, they were supposed to go to church,” said Smiley after noting the sadness in the mourning matriarch’s eyes. “She was gonna go pick him up and take him to church. She texted him back for the address and he didn’t respond. An hour and a half after that, maybe two hours—he was gone,” he added.

Rickey Smiley took to Instagram Sunday to share that Brandon Smiley has died.

Smiley did not offer details on Brandon’s death but solicited prayers on behalf of the family.

“I just had bad news this morning,” said Smiley in an Instagram video. “I’m on my way to the airport to get to Birmingham. I want everybody to pray for me, pray for our family. Our son Brandon Smiley has passed away this morning. Lord have mercy, Jesus.

“Pray for Brandon’s mother and his father Taurus and his sister Taylor, and everybody. I hate to announce this, but I just want to give it to you before you hear it in the streets.”

“Life comes with a whole bunch of twists and turns. I can’t think straight,” he added.

In a separate post, Smiley posted a meme that read;

“May your battles keep you near the cross, may your struggles show that you need God, May your battles end the way it should, and MAY YOUR BAD DAYS PROVE THAT GOD IS GOOD.”

The Rickey Smiley Morning Show reports that Brandon Smiley was a fellow comedian and actor who appeared alongside Rickey on his TV One show, Rickey Smiley For Real.

Just hours before news broke of his passing, Brandon was seen in a video alongside his partner Brooke Antonette.

“He’s giving what’s suppose to be gave ðŸ¤£ Can’t wait to see what this year has in store for us!!” she captioned the video of them smiling and laughing.

She’s since added a tribute to Brandon captioned, “Nobody will ever compare to you my love.”

Brandon Smiley is survived by his 3-year-old daughter, Storm, 3, his mom Brenda, brother Malik, 21, and sisters D’Essence, 25, Taylor, 22, and Aaryn, 21. He was 32 years old.
