The stepfather who defended three of the men accused of taking part in the gang rape of a 7-year-old girl at a party after she was allegedly pimped out by her teenage stepsister is a convicted sex offender. This certainly explains a lot. In the meantime, two boys, who are ages 13 and 14 were charged in the horrific crime. They identified Gregory Leary, who has already been arrested, as one of the sickos involved in the attack. You’ll remember that Father of The Year claimed Leary was just trying to help. Pop the hood.
The 13-year-old and 14-year-old suspects who are charged in the gang rape of a 7-year-old confessed to the crime and identified Gregory Leary (pictured) who has also been charged, as another perpetrator of the sex assault, police sources said yesterday.
The teens, whose names have not been released, were brought in for questioning from their homes in the Rowan Towers high rise on April 2, four days after a 15-year-old girl allegedly sold her young stepsister for sex at a party inside the apartment building. During their interviews, they allegedly admitted forcing sex acts from the 7-year-old as Leary raped her, according to investigators who did not want to be named.
Leary’s attorney, Robin Lord, has said the 7-year-old was not raped, and that statements implicating Leary were the results of police pressure.
A hospital examination of the 7-year-old the night of the crime revealed injuries consistent with penetration, law enforcement sources said. Evidence was collected as part of a rape examination, but because the procedure for children is geared to be less intrusive, some DNA samples may not have been obtained, the sources said. An analysis of the findings has not been completed by the lab.
Hospital officials have confirmed that both the 15-year-old and the 7-year-old were taken to Capital Health at Mercer the night police began their investigation, but could not say whether a rape examination was done.
Prosecutors said Leary admitted to having sex with the 15-year-old, though Lord says it was consensual and the girl told everyone at the party she was 18. Leary and the 17-year-old allegedly met the stepsisters outside Rowan Towers the afternoon of March 28, and the elder girl knew at least one of them from school, police said.
Leary is seen on surveillance video getting into the Rowan elevator with the girls and heading upstairs, prosecutors said in court last week.
Once at the party, the 15-year-old allegedly had sex for money with Leary and others inside a bedroom while her stepsister waited on the living room couch, police said. The teen emerged with a roll of cash, from which she allegedly pulled some money, handed it to the younger girl, and told the 7-year-old to let the boys touch her, police said.
A single sex act with the child escalated into the gang rape, law enforcement sources have said. One of those arrested in the case was identified by the 15-year-old victim against her father’s wishes, law enforcement sources said. The father allegedly instructed his daughter not to implicate this person, supposedly so the father could “take care of him,” the sources said.
The father, whose name is being withheld by The Times, appeared at Leary’s bail hearing and angrily protested that Leary, Lewis, and the 17-year-old were all innocent. The father alleged the 7-year-old told him the three tried to stop the gang rape and help the younger girl.
Police refused to comment, but behind closed doors ridiculed the assertion, saying that the father’s past as a convicted sex offender made him less than credible. In 2007, he pleaded guilty to sexual contact with a 5-year-old girl, court records show.
We all knew there was something very wrong with the stepfather. And we wouldn’t be the least bit surprised to hear he abused his daughter and stepdaughter.
