French Clowns Have Their Way With MJ

- By Bossip Staff

Here’s an idea that sounds like it might be Bad Bad — Really, Really Bad unless you like bendy “circus arts.” Cirque du Soleil is launching a production featuring the music of Michael Jackson. Pop the top.

The acrobatic troupe Cirque du Soleil announced Tuesday that it will put on a live touring show featuring the songs of the King of Pop starting late next year.

That will be followed by a permanent production in Las Vegas in 2012 at a property owned by MGM Mirage Inc. The casino company did not say which venue will host the show. A nightclub in Las Vegas will also open with the show.

Cirque and Jackson’s estate will each own 50 percent of the project and share equally in the cost of putting it on. The estate will also receive royalties from the use of Jackson’s music and other assets.

“Having attended Cirque du Soleil performances with Michael, I know he was a huge fan,” John Branca, the co-executor of the estate, said in a statement. “We are excited to be partners with Cirque du Soleil to give Michael’s fans a truly unique way to hear, see and feel Michael’s music.”

Jackson’s mother, Katherine, added in a statement, “Our family is thrilled that Cirque du Soleil will pay tribute to my son in such an important way.”

When it comes to one of the freakier ideas we’ve heard in a while: This Is It.

Actually looking forward to seeing it. Cirque does some amazing things, why not pair it with the amazing sounds of the King aka Thriller-Maker?

    That is all.

Given the fact the other tributes were a disater, this should be great. Since it will begin late next year it gives them time to properly prepare or the show.

I think Michael would really be honored. Sounds much more exciting then the Beatles so why not? Have you ever seen one of their human circus shows???- That bendy stuff is impressive! He was such a great artist,I would think he would value such an artsy tribute.

Michael Jackson would have love to see this, but to bad just like Chris Brown he was hated when he was alive accept for the fans that love him. And this show would never had happen when Michael Jackson were alive because he had to many haters in America.

Cirque de Solei is a wonderful and unique production! It sure is and it is a great honor to Michael Jackson for them to put on this show with his music.

I´ve been to 2 cirque du soleil shows, and they were breath taking! i was even surprised, but they know how to put on a show, like micheal did. and yea no one else knows how to pay him tribute I say let them have a try. It will prob be great compared to bet, the grammys, and mtv´s shit.

Top of the line, acrobatic performance art, makes much more sense to me than carrie underwood singin his song.
