A flamboyant club goer, known for his rowdy behavior, bit off more than he could chew when he chomped off the ear of a male model at a trendy NY nightclub.
James Leahy, who also goes by the name Jane Lane, is out on bail after biting off the ear of a male model inside Highbar, a midtown hot spot on W. 48th St. Leahy faces felony assault charges and up to 25 years in prison if convicted at trial.
“I reached for my ear and it was not there,” said a traumatized Ronnie Brown, 25, whose left lobe was sewn back on after the Sunday night attack. “It looks like a dog mangled it.”
Gruesome pictures show Brown’s missing lower lobe, and were stark reminders of when Tyson chewed off Evander Holyfield’s upper ear in their heavyweight title bout in 1997.
“It’s inhuman, it’s animalistic – it’s in a league of its own,” said Brown, who is worried he’ll lose his modeling gigs. “He needs professional help.”
Leahy, 26, a Pennsylvania native and events promoter for Aids Walk New York, was arrested and arraigned Tuesday in Manhattan Criminal Court. He was released without bail and has told pals he was just defending himself.
Brown said that’s nonsense and that things got physical when Leahy tossed a glass at him.
Leahy did not return calls but a woman who identified herself as his grandmother defended him: “You don’t do something like that without provocation – believe me,” she said. Leahy’s bosses said he’s been put on paid leave.
Leahy describes himself in his blog as an “absolute monster, a drag-terrorist.”
“Right now, everybody has heard Ronnie’s side of the story,” said Michael Formika-Jones, a friend of both and another famous club fixture. “There are two sides to every story – even Lorena Bobbitt had her side of the story.”
He sounds like one crazy sh*t Sheriff. He’s a self described terrorist who bit off someone’s ear and he still got put on PAID LEAVE from work?! GTFOH. If it was the other way around, they would have called it a hate crime and sentenced his azz to life!
