Dr. Laura Schlessinger’s racial slur-filled radio rant has inspired a Hawaiian politician to consider proposing a possible ban on the N-word.

A Hawaii state lawmaker intends to introduce a symbolic resolution banning the N-word after he heard talk radio host Dr. Laura Schlessinger say it on air.

Democratic Rep. John Mizuno said Friday the resolution wouldn’t have the effect of law, but he hopes it would send a message that the word is hateful and offensive.

Mizuno said he felt compelled to create the resolution after he heard Schlessinger say it was OK to use the N-word, which Mizuno argues shouldn’t be listed in the dictionary or acknowledged in society.

The resolution would be considered by the state Legislature when it returns to the Capitol in January.

Seems like we have this conversation anytime some racial conflict gets national media coverage. Haven’t Permed Up Al and Messy Jesse Jackson proposed burying the N-word in the past? It’s definitely an ugly word that some folks should NEVER use, but this is America — where Freedom of Speech means you can say the N-word all you want, but just be prepared to get your a$$ kicked or lose your job if you say it in the wrong place at the wrong time.

It seems highly unlikely that this resolution would pass.
