Hate It Or Love It: New Michael Jackson – “Hold My Hand” Featuring Akon

- By Bossip Staff

The first, official, accepted, undisputed, you-cant’-tell-us-that-ain’t-Michael, Akon-was-there-when-it-was-recorded song from the new Michael Jackon album “Michael” was release last night.

And it’s not really a new song. Or something you’ve never heard before. Akon and MJ recorded “Hold My Hand” back in 2007, and an unfinished version of it leaked right after. But Akon says the world is more ready for it now.

“The world was not ready to hear Hold My Hand when it leaked a couple years ago. We were devastated about it, but its time has definitely come. Now in its final state, it has become an incredible, beautiful, anthemic song. I’m so proud to have had the chance to work with Michael, one of my all time idols.”

Hold My Hand

Do you think this lives up to Michael’s legacy? Or was Will.I.Am right about the whole concept being disrespectful?

Since I am the only African king, I can always share my title with Michael Jackson. He is the king and his music will always lives on. R.I.P MJ

I love it, and I miss Michael 😦 but I do agree with Will I Am….Michael wouldn’t want unfinished music out. He was a perfectionist

  • Tiffany Says

I think WIll I Am is incorrect. I think Michael would want his music to be released. He was a perfectuionist, but he also knows that he was his worse critic, and that most of the public would love stuff, that he is so hard on.

  • Miss U Much MJJ....Lovely1

I can’t stand Akon but I like the song! I heard it last year.

  • thesaneone

I agree with Wil-i-am and i think that it is ridiculous to release this music now. record labels have no shame. and lets not forget that akon and MJ didnt get along and stopped working together. but now akon profits off the release. BS!

hey how do you know that michael had a problem with akon?

i remember hearing this about two and some change years ago. i was wondering if it was gonna be released and if michael was gonna do a new album. i would have been so jazzed if that happened. i knew it wasn’t finished. so i was just waiting. now that i hear it it sound like an akon song featuring michael. i mean gosh he only has one verse and it’s akon and them cell bars slamming the rest of the song. i’m not down with this at all. i don’t care for will.i.am’s music at all and i have my reasons but he was right when he said it’s wrong to put this stuff out. if mikki ain’t do it when he was alive then it just shouldn’t be put out at all. i’d say more but man….i just don’t wanna go there.

i think the message in the music is the most important to mj but once again people dont get what he did this for … this song is beautiful and show us why most of these artist today are nothing special they follow trends micheal promoted love and peace i wish more people would make music like this

I really love the song. This is the second song I’ve heard with Mike and Akon and I’ve liked both. Their styles and voices mix well. I don’t think Mike would have a problem with this. I truely believe he stopped releasing music because he didn’t think people wanted to hear it, not because it wasn’t perfect enough. Will needs to chill and enjoy the music.

    Beautiful, Beautiful, Love it

I am thinking Michael suggested and hinted that the music should be released if he was not here to finish everything

Michael wants the music to flow on and on – Let the people enjoy the music of our beloved Michael

Michael knew his life was finite regardless, but the music goes on into infinity

Long live the King of Pop
