Jada Pinkett-Smith Doesn’t Believe In Rules For Her Kids

- By Bossip Staff

SMH at the “loose parenting” going on in the Smith household:

“We don’t have rules,” Willow’s mom, Jada Pinkett Smith, told Style magazine. “We come up with agreements. Kids are little people, and we’re in life to guide them. Trying to rule someone is always an illusion — and it’s no different with children.”

Most kids would argue they didn’t need to be punished if they did something wrong — much like we did as kids! — but the “Whip My Hair” singer has learned a lot in her decade on Earth.

Jada recalled a time when Willow disobeyed her parents and set up a page on a social networking site: “I told her not to, so I was so mad. I said, ‘What do you think I should do now?’ So Willow said, ‘Mom, take my computer away’. And I said, ‘How long for?’ She said a month.” Seriously? What kid does that?!

“I’m not saying it’s always perfect,” Jada admitted. We can only imagine a not-perfect rule-breaking scenario at the Smith household. Perhaps Jaden and Willow fighting over who gets to record the next song with Justin Bieber — as Jaden has been appearing as a surprise guest for Justin’s Jingle Ball appearances and Willow is going on tour with him in Europe.

The punishment we’d give ourselves if we were in a fight like that? Grounded. But with The Biebs of course.

Wow…this is probably why little Willow ain’t fawking with school too tough.

Kids are little people my a.s.s.! They ain’t midgets – they are CHILDREN in need of guidance and boundaries until they reach the age when they can successfully live on their own and take care of themselves. I have a responsibility to my son to try to teach him the way he should go. He is 13 and I have to remind him on a regular basis that he and I are not equals – I pay the cost to be the boss! And as long as I’m paying every bill in my household, it’s my way or the highway.

your so stupid, a child learn there own way by themselves not their parents, and she is not a child at 10 years old….I think what Jada is doing is the right thing for her kids, that’s not your responsiblity to tell another parent how to raise their kids, you keep your kid on lock and they will become rebellious.

Part of me is so happy that a black family is making waves in hollywood like this. I’m so proud of what they have achieved. But on the other hand, i know the way this story ends. Even all the disney kids with their uber-soft images end up messed up. I hope they prove me wrong.

Justin Bieber is not a kid, he is 16 going on 17 years old. Why is a 10 year old girl going on tour with him? Why is a 12 year old boy hanging around with him?

SMH i think all we can do now is pray for that family, coz IMHO, the light at the end of the tunnel is turning out to be an incoming train 😦

i was raised simliarly, i turned out fine, slightly undiscplined but fine 🙂 – i’m sure people comment on how “mature” your kids seem

  • Ms. KillerLashes

I don’t see the big deal either cause I’m sure that her children aren’t bad children and that’s why they don’t have rules. But I’m sure the minute they step out of line will and jada will whoop dat a$$…..

  • if anything be noble

A trip out into the world will put an end to that because the world has rules, not agreements. I can see the judge now when Jaden says he didn’t agree to drive 55.

child please. so what about the school agreement?

    • Whatev

They must have agreed that if she signs the record deal she can sign off on school.

  • Tracey

It is her business, and her kids have grow up mighty fine, but she is likely to find her kids yawned for some rules at some point of their lives, and they will question her about that as adults!

  • Whatev

Well maybe Willow agreed to it. She probably had to wait until she was grown (10 or 11).

Kids need boundries. Rules teach kids respect/negotiation.
I hope Jada and Will live forever with their kids in their imaginary/fantasy world.
Because if those two entitled kids went out into the real world without Mommy and Daddy society would b**** slap them real quick and wouldn’t have a clue how to deal with it.

Sorry, but those two are setting their kids up for failure and disappointment.
The rest of society isn’t on the Will/Jada train therefore, their kids aren’t anything special.
