Golden Globes Executives Say: ‘Ricky Gervais Need To Go Sit His Azz Down Somewhere!’

- By Bossip Staff

Seems the folks that run the Golden Globes are none to happy with this years host, comedian Ricky Gervais. Ol’ boy was taking shots at people and cracked a few jokes that were definitely in poor taste.

Add Hollywood Foreign Press Association president Philip Berk to the chorus of those who believe that Ricky Gervais went too far as host of the Golden Globes on Sunday night.

The head of the group responsible for the awards show says that while he felt the show itself was “terrific,” he too felt that Gervais’ jokes about specific celebrities were too much.

“He definitely crossed the line,” Berk told The Hollywood Reporter. “And some of the things were totally unacceptable. But that’s Ricky.”

“Any of the references to individuals is certainly not something the Hollywood Foreign Press condones,” he added.

Robert Downey Jr. – the butt of one of Gervais’ jokes – said the show was “hugely mean-spirited with mildly sinister undertones.”

Gervais went after Berk personally with this joke when introducing him saying, “I just had to help him off the toilet and pop his teeth in.”

While Berk traditionally vets every word of the Globes’ script, he says that Gervais does not allow that pre-show scrutiny as host. “That’s not how Ricky works,” he said.

Sounds like the Foreign Press let dude chump them off if you ask us. How do you book a host that won’t adhere to the rules of YOUR award show!? Shoulda fired him once he started talkin’ that “this is how I do it” sh*t, word to Montell Jordan.

Come guys, it was all in good fun. Nobody complains when Ricky pokes fun at himself or fat people or some category he falls into but let him poke a li’l fun at our superhuman immortal celebrities & BOOM! i think the biggest problem wit Ricky is he tells the truth in a funny way.

If you invite a shark to dinner and he eats everybody you can’t say; hmm I wonder why he did that?

And Robert Downey Jr. was joking as well with his comment.

Everybody in that room knows everything that he said was TRUE and it was FUNNY! Stop asking him to host if you don’t want his kind of humor!!!!

Ricky Gervais blazed those white folks last night! LOLOLOL

  • sanriobaby =^.^=

Ricky Gervais is known for his biting humor and the producers knew what they were getting when they hired him, and if they didn’t then shame on them. He was funny and the jokes were smart and clever. My question is, why isn’t the media making a stink about the comment that Al Pacino said during the awards show. His “joke” about the waiters being deported was in very bad taste and was extremely offensive to minorities everywhere.

  • don't ask

THANK YOU!!! Ain’t you just about sick of his damned BS?

  • Tami_Lane

Yup! He was hysterical. I thought he was a great host.
