Arizona Governor To Countersue Federal Government To Enforce Immigration Laws
That shady Jan Brewer character is at it again:
Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer says she plans to file a counter-lawsuit against the federal government for failing to enforce immigration laws.
Brewer says her claim will be filed in the federal government’s challenge to Arizona’s new enforcement immigration law. The governor says the federal government hasn’t secured the state’s border with Mexico and stuck Arizona with the costs tied to illegal immigration. The law was passed amid years of complaints that the federal government hasn’t done enough to lessen the state’s role as the nation’s busiest illegal entry point. A judge blocked the most controversial portions of the law, such as a requirement that says police, while enforcing other laws, must question people’s immigration status if there’s a reasonable suspicion they’re in the country illegally.
