However, it is not easy to become a health care specialist. For getting admission in a medical college, he/she has to crack Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) . After graduation, he has to do a residency programme at a hospital in respective field. The duration for residency programme differs based on the specialization, for example, it takes three years for pediatrics and seven years for neurosurgery. Also, he/she has to pass the National Medical Licensing Exam in the respective field to be eligible for practicing.
