It is a fact that surgeons get the highest pay in the United States followed by anesthesiologists, obstetricians, gynecologists, oral and maxillofacial surgeons, prosthodontists and general practitioners. However, it is not easy to become a health care specialist. For getting admission in a medical college, he/she has to crack Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) . After graduation, he has to do a residency programme at a hospital in respective field. The duration for residency programme differs based on the specialization, for example, it takes three years for pediatrics and seven years for neurosurgery. Also, he/she has to pass the National Medical Licensing Exam in the respective field to be eligible for practicing.
